Trial and Error : Stay with Me

This is a story I wrote for a competition. Comment away... Happy reading!! “I’m out.” I said to Joshua and held out my hand towards him. Shoving his hands down his pocket he extracted another magazine and pressed it into my hand. I reloaded with record speed and continued firing at the Weepers lumbering towards us. “Goddamn Weepers!” Joshua shouted, kicking at the body of one which had fallen at his feet. “These were new shoes.” He huffed and smiling at me, continuing to shoot at each one that appeared out of the shadows. Soon there were none left. “Well that’s a job well done, I’d say.” Joshua remarked. Looking around the abandoned factory, he came back carrying two bottles of gasoline. Handing me one, he started meticulously, covering what was left of the Weepers’ nest of human flesh and bones with gasoline, as I poured mine on the floor covering the bodies. After this was done, we stepped back and he handed me a pack of matches. “Do the honors, Miss Sherry.” ...

Movie Review: The Perks of being a Wallflower

Image
As you guys know, I generally review really big budget movies with really great action, but I do watch many movies which are not big budget action movies. I generally don’t do reviews of them because generally with films which have a lot of emotion and tight knit drama, there is a lot which cannot be described with words. Yes, I can write about how great the story was and how well the dialogues were, but I can never let you fully understand what goes through me, when I watch such films. Take “Prisoners” for example, it is probably one of the best films I have seen, but I don’t have a review up for it, because I don’t think such a film can be rated. But of course, I did start this blog so I can develop my skills, so with this article I’m going to do just that. This post is my review of “The Perks of being a Wallflower”. This review isn’t going to be split up into parts like I usually do. This is going to be more of a raw feedback, because I generally sleep on a movie before...

Movie Review: Avengers: Age of Ultron

Image
My first coherent thought after watching Avengers: Age of Ultron was: “ How the heck did all that come together?” And then, it was followed by: “Joss Whedon is a freakin’ genius!” Many of you may wonder why these were the first thoughts after seeing said movie, well to clarify, Avengers is packed with so many characters and has so much star power, but it still manages to bring together a greatly coherent and awesome story all the while exploring what makes the earth’s mightiest heroes tick. The blend is so seamless and, dare I say, perfect that there is not one moment where you look at the screen and go, well that shot didn’t work there or maybe this story arc shouldn’t have been written. Kudos to Joss Whedon for bringing together this epic movie. Before we jump into my full review, I want to post a minor spoiler warning here. *Minor Spoiler Warning* Aaand you have now been warned; don’t try to kill me later. Moving on... Story and Writing: The p...

Movie Review: Fast and Furious 7

Image
Fast and furious 7 is a summer blockbuster, which in a word lives up to its expectations. It is directed by James Wan known mainly for his films in the horror genre. It stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez and Jason Statham. This movie is James Wan’s first action film and I am happy to say that he has done a great job. Of course this movie like any other has some flaws, which I will address, but if you really know what to expect from a fast and furious movie, then this will deliver it in spades. SCREENPLAY By far the strongest aspect of the film, the screenplay shines in every scene. The banter between the characters is witty, comedic and a whole lot of fun. And as a bonus there are about a billion one liners. The world needs one liners. I do not actually have any problems with the screenplay. It fits the movie to a T and not one dialogue is out of place or out of character. But there are of course exposition bits, so I wouldn’t call it perfect....

Random Talk: Update 2

Image
Hey people of the inter webs! I am finally back after my finals and I have three more days till my next set of exams. I hope that the previous statement shows how busy I am. But irrespective of that I have to maintain this blog, so without any further ado, here are a list of movies I saw. Whiplash, Birdman, The Imitation Game, Nirbhaya: India’s Daughter and Fast and Furious 7. The review for the last one will be up in a few minutes. The reviews for the rest though are going to take some time, but hopefully, I’ll be able to write them and get them out. Until then, please do check out the following blog.                 MoonMusicianKashyap -  The blog I linked above belongs to a really close friend of mine, who is a really great thinker and conspiracy theorist. One thing that has always brought us together is the search for a way out of the reality we live in. \As much as I would love...
