Now to the
review….. This movie is awesome. Please
don’t sit here reading this. Watch the movie first then come and read this
review. So here is how this review is going to be split into two parts, the pros
and cons of the movie and I will rate the movie in the end and I will also tell
you if it is worth spending that extra bit of money to watch it in 3d. So from
here on major spoilers…
The movie starts in the future and it is bad. The X-Men are in really deep dough. Evolved sentinels are hunting humans and mutants alike and a group of mutants consisting of kitty, bobby, bishop, blink, sunspot and colossus are seen fighting sentinels and all of them except bishop and kitty who disappear from the room that the sentinels attack.
We then see storm wolverine magneto and Xavier getting down of the blackbird in china and enter an old building where they meet up with a surprisingly alive group of mutants we see earlier in the movie. Kitty can send the minds of mutants a short time into the future or past and scout for trouble. Xavier and Magneto think that it can help them prevent the war and Xavier asks Kitty to send him to the past to stop the sentinels from ever being created. But as the professor cannot withstand the pain involved, she sends wolverines to stop an event 50 years in the past where mystique murders a weapons manufacturer Trask and gets captured allowing her cells to be used to upgrade the sentinels built by Trask, so that they can adapt to all the powers of mutants. In the past Wolverine has to team up with a young Xavier, who has lost his powers because the medicine which he takes to retain his ability to walk makes him powerless, a young Beast and Magneto to stop Mystique and hopefully change the future. And that basically is the plot of the movie. I know I haven’t gone into that much detail but please trust me, and go watch this film. It is awesome and I don’t really want to reveal the full plot. And do wait for the post credits scene.
Pros:
So the movie has some really great
things going on. The plot is great. It’s definitely a thinking person’s X-Men.
And don’t get me started on the acting. Hugh Jackman is excellent as wolverine (as
if he wasn’t in the 6 movies before this). Jennifer Lawrence sizzles as
mystique, Michael Fassbender is regal as Magneto and this is one of James McAvoy’s
best performances yet. All the other members also give solid performances, and
one of my favorite was Evan Peters as Quicksilver.
Another part of the movie which is good is the story. It is incredible, riveting, and awesome till the credits roll. And one more thing which I liked was that at the halfway point in the movie when the intermission occurred, I had no idea what would happen next. When a movie can do that to me, then it is one of the greats. The dialogues are witty and the score is classic x men.
I really liked the opening when the camera zooms through DNA and you can hear the classic X2 theme. That was when I realized that Bryan Singer was back. And it is his game through and through. Good job man. We missed you.
Cons:
I really
have only one con about this movie. The graphics are great for the most part. But
there are a few scenes in the past involving the sentinels, which really didn’t
work for me.
Final Verdict:
The best X-Men
movie yet. Great Job Bryan Singer. Guys please go watch this movie. It is
awesome. It is more of a sci-fi film, more than a superhero movie. It gets an 8.5/10 and my Medal of Honor that it won’t
disappoint.
