*Sigh* Fine I’ll go into a bit more detail. But please do not expect my usual format because I don’t have the patience to dissect this movie any further.

Independence Day Resurgence is set twenty years after the original movie and it is basically the story of how the aliens come back for another round of ass kicking from America, the greatest country in the history of the universe.

I will be the first person to admit that I like bad action movies. But here is the thing, most bad action movies are fun to watch. Most actors in a bad action movie know that they are in a bad action movie and they have a hell of a time on screen. Take London has Fallen for example. It is a really bad movie. But I liked it because I had fun watching it.

The original movie did not have anything critically amazing about it. But it was a kickass action movie where all the actors had fun. The movie was light hearted; action packed and had one speech that will turn even ISIS into patriotic Americans. And it had Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman.

Unfortunately Resurgence just has Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman. The only thing that I liked about the movie was the fact that every actor who had returned from the previous movie had a fun time in the movie.

That is literally all that is good about the movie. The returning actors have fun. That’s all. The acting is bad. I hated the two male leads and I hated the female lead more. There was an unnecessary amount of love stories going on and there was so much of utterly useless melodrama.

There is so much melodrama and bad acting in this movie that it became boring. I didn’t care about the Atlantic Ocean getting destroyed because it was all CGI. In the first movie, it was great to watch because of the amazing practical effects. Here it looks like a bunch of super computers vomited on the screen and called it a day.

I watched the movie with two of my friends and, I kid you not, I basically predicted the whole second half beat by beat to one of them. I was amazed at how dumb this thing was.

Here is the deal I knew I was getting into a dumb movie. I just wanted to watch explosions, funny one liners and awesome action while I commented on how stupid the movie is and shoved popcorn into my mouth.

But I was too bored to even finish my popcorn, let alone steal from my friends like I usually do. I was bored out of my mind and I am very sad that Ronald Emerich decided to ruin one of my favorite movies of all time with a stupid cash grab like this one.

I give Independence Day Resurgence 3 out of 10. In case you are wondering those points are for the returning cast.

I can’t believe they had the audacity to set up a sequel for this one too. I’m to numb to even go on. Until next time;

Peace!!!
