Random Talk: The end of a true Saga…

As I sit here typing this, anxiously waiting for The Blood of Olympus to be delivered to me tomorrow, I cannot help, but fell torn. Why would I feel torn, you might ask, well is simply because, tomorrow, by this time, I will be holding the end of a series, that is very close to my heart. If you do not know what I am talking about, then let me clarify…

The Blood of Olympus is the last book in the Heroes of Olympus series, written by Rick Riordan, or as I would like to call him, Uncle Rick. Now, Heroes of Olympus is the continuation of the previous series titled Percy Jackson and the Olympians. If you haven’t read either of the series, I suggest you do so immediately. I say that this series is close to my heart, because of one reason, I have committed to it, in a way I haven’t to any other.

I have waited year after year, to read the next book. I waited a year to read the Son of Neptune. I waited a year to read The Mark of Athena. I waited another to read the House of Hades. And I have waited one to read The Blood of Olympus. But as I wait, so close to getting my hands on the book, I realize that this is the end. The end of a saga. The end of a Decade of Percy Jackson. The end of a generation.

I realize that with every page I turn, I have lesser and lesser left of my favorite characters to read. And I am afraid that this magical journey, will come to an end. I realize that this is the book, where Percy, Annabeth, Frank, Hazel, Jason, Piper, Leo, Calypso, Reyna, Thalia, Grover, Nico, Octavian……everyone……move on. I realize that I am not going to see them anymore.

Uncle Rick has created a world, which I have become a part of. Which has changed my life. Which has inspired me. Rick Riordan is an icon, to many people. His works has touched a lot of hearts. Remember, during the premier of the last Harry Potter movie in London, how Thousands of fans gathered to see JK Rowling. Rick Riordan has achieved that level of success.

He will always be remembered as the guy who gave this generation, the most relatable superhero, after Harry Potter, Percy Jackson. He will be remembered, for how he made people, laugh, love, and cry at the same time. How he made them sit in the edge of their seats, wondering what was going to happen next. And that is one of the highest compliments that can be given to a writer.

I am afraid, that tomorrow, by this time, the end would have begun. But I will take the journey. I will read the book. I will probably shed some tears along the way, but I will cherish each and every word. And irrespective of the outcome, I will always respect and love, Uncle Rick. He has inspired me so much and he continues to do so.

I promise to finish the book as soon as I can, and review it this week end. So until then, this is Mrithyunjay, signing off :) :)
