Random Talk: "Hiatus" Pocus - Of lack of inspiration and Randomness

This happens to me a lot of times. Especially in times when I lack proper motivation; or as I like to call them times when I can be lazy and watch movies, lay games and read books without really writing anything myself. And in a way this has been fueled on by the fact that I have had my semester exams going on in the past weeks. This has basically led me to put my mind in Auto Pilot mode and cruise through the weeks, studying and in essence doing just the bare minimum to get through the day without any extra work. I really wanted to change it, and, unfortunately I haven’t gotten the push to do it. Not because the days have been uneventful but rather because of some weird abstract reason which I can’t put into words.
Anywho let’s forget about that for the moment, just as I conveniently “forgot” to do anything creatively. What is the point of this post? Honestly, I don’t know. The point of this post is the fact that I don’t have a point; a paradox. Just as the multiple paradoxes I can cite at moment’s notice to collectively blow people’s minds. Speaking of blowing people’s minds in a social setting, I want to assure you that this post is “NOT” about public speaking, no, this is just about talking to a bunch of people, as you are standing in front of them; “forced socializing where only you speak” as I like to call it.
I have never been a fan of the phrase “Public Speaking”. It almost sounds like a curse word. Like say, the “Eighth Harry Potter Book”. There are only seven and by the power vested in me as the greatest harry potter fan in my college I forbid anyone from saying that there is an eighth book. It even has “Cursed” in the title, how good did you expect it to be? But, before I stray too far from the topic of having no topic, let me get back to public speaking.
Everyone hates it. Everyone wants nothing to do with it, but everyone wants to be good at it. So why in the world and the nine circles of hell below would you continue calling it “Public Speaking”? Look at it this way, we are all social animals who prefer solitude and to be left the hell alone. Trust me on this one I have always wanted to live the life of Robinson Crusoe. But we are all forced to socialize.
Unfortunately or fortunately we all know how to socialize. Find a common topic and shove your opinions down the other person’s throat, as they scream against your opinion. When you call “Public Speaking” forced socializing where only you speak you immediately understand that this is an amazing opportunity to stand in front of a group of people and shove your opinion down everyone’s throat; that too without any opposition in the form of screaming protests. See “Public Speaking” has become appealing already.
Let’s move on. Modern art is crap. Coming from a “mostly-trying-to-be-hip-Millennial” there is no deeper meaning in the splatter. No, it is not the meaning of life, its splatter; just normal paint splatter. Paint splatter designed specifically to make you look dumb when a sophisticated art critic walks up to it with his years of experience and extols about the way the shades contrast and mix to form the canvas in which life can be seen and experienced. So, don’t stress too much, I may say otherwise but the paint splatter seems accidental to me too.
“Great Movies” are all someone’s opinion. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and so is the beauty of movies. Don’t say you like a movie if it is critically acclaimed. If you do that to me I will personally punch you in the face. You like a movie and think it is great for specific reasons. You can say that a movie has great visuals and acting, but a movie is great because it means something to you. According to me, in spite of being a steaming hot pile of junk, the greatest video-game movie of all time is Tomb Raider. According to me the greatest action movie of all time is Mad Max Fury Road.
The point I am trying to make is that when you say a movie is great, I believe that it must mean something to you. It may be the movie in which you relate to a specific character, and if you tell me it is the greatest movie despite it having a complete crap story, I will shake your hand and agree that it is, according to you, the greatest movie. Here is what I don’t want anyone to do, I don’t want anyone to say that a movie is great and is their favorite because it won a bunch of awards, and they know it.
Have music composers forgotten how to use music to set up atmosphere? In every major blockbuster I see be it Hollywood, Tollywood, or Bollywood, music has been cast aside so that a greater part of the budget can b allocated to the visual side of things. And in a way I can’t say that is wrong because Movies are primarily a visual medium. But literally every theme in every movie feels and plays the same. In Hollywood I guess that is because Hans Zimmer scores most of the films these days, but even for films where there is a different composer the music has started feeling the same.
Now keep in mind this is not all the films, I am just talking about films which are made for the box office and not for critical appreciation. There is always one awesome theme song for the hero and that’s it, the rest of the soundtrack is pushed off to the side. But I guess only when Indie directors who know how to use music to make an impact like Damien Cheazzle are given a better chance will this situation improve.
Why in the world are people reluctant to admit that they enjoy Shojo anime? To explain Shonen is the typical heroic anime, while Shojo is more of a slice of life anime with a greater focus on drama and day to day life as opposed world ending events which a hero trains for months to save. On a purely mathematical ratio basis, there are more amazing Shojo anime than Shonen Anime. Give them a shot, you won’t be disappointed.
As I finally end this post, I want to admit to something. The original goal of this post was to see how many opinions I can cover in a manner that I will be satisfied with before I cross the one thousand word mark. It just so happened to end on Anime. And it was also a way to get back into a mindset of writing stuff. If you had the attention span to make it till here let me know your thoughts. Anyway, with the stuff I am working on this probably won’t be my last post today. Look out for more stuff.

Peace!!!
