Random Talk : Co-Authors, Editing and games?... Woah!!!
While witty
beginnings to a post aren’t uncommon for me, some posts require a more
straightforward approach. As an introduction to this article, I need to
introduce one of my close friends. He is average, average, average and, overall
just “Meh”.
But all jokes
and teasing aside, his name is Asim Nath and he is an avid gamer. Quite
possibly a bigger one than me, but we have our opinions and squabbles. One
thing we can agree on is that he has more hours logged in games and I have
played more games than him, just for a shorter time per game.
Anyway, I got an
interesting phone call from him today and we talked for about half an hour; regarding
a post he has written. To transcribe the abridged version of our talk, he
wanted me to share his post in my blog because this was his first stab at
writing a post like this and also because of some other reason I seem to
forget... what was it, now... Yup! Because I am plain AWESOME!!
Ok he didn’t
exactly say that, but one can assume. Coming back to the point here, he sent me
a word document where he had written about five of his favourite games, in no
particular order, and he basically wanted me to post it here. Here are the
terms we agreed on.
1. I would not delete or rewrite
parts of his article.
2.
I will check for grammatical
mistakes and correct only those.
3.
I will credit his article to
him and say that he is an awesome person
As you can see
none of the terms are in my favour, so I put one condition: I can add anything I
want before and after his article. In this case, a commentary on all the points
he makes and what my opinions are on his favourite games, at least for this
summer.
So without any
further ado, here is his unedited (Except for grammatical and spelling errors)
post.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5 games to play this summer (Random Order)
Fallout 4
I have started
the Fallout series with Fallout 4 and I am overwhelmed by the sheer amount of
content present in the game. The way the main story lines interconnect, the
side quests and the awesome crafting system; all of them are flawless. There is
something for everyone. Want to go monster hunting? Join a group controlling
the land? Raise wars against other groups? Crafting new items the wasteland? It
has all sorts of things to offer. Even the building a base is really awesome. I
have still not completed the game. Levelling up in the game is also awesome.
The only problem
with the game is the small bugs which occur occasionally like some side quests
not starting, environmental clipping and so on.
Metal Gear Solid 5
I am a hard core
Metal Gear fan and I have to say that Hideo Kojima has, at last, given us the
perfect Metal Gear game. I don’t know what to say about it. It’s just perfect,
the twisted storyline, the open world sandbox experience, the new buddy system,
the crafting and managing a mother base; all makes perfect sense and it’s a
game in which I could not find any flaws. On the first game-play, the Fulton
system and cardboard box were really stupid.
Dark Souls 3
Many people will
ask, why include a Souls game in the list as it I only meant for a particular
group of gamers. I think that is not the case. A Souls game can be really
interesting and challenging and the greatest benefit is that the game has an
awesome replay value.
Dark soul 3 is
perfect in every ways. The storyline, the game-play and most importantly the
fun factor of the game itself. The game clocked at about 323 hours for me in
new game and it will much more in the new game plus. From software has really nailed it this time; after Dark Souls 2
which I don’t particularly like.
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate
After the
disappointing Unity and Rogue, Ubisoft really seem to be going in the right
path after making Syndicate. The enormous map of London and most of the
buildings are just astonishing. The gameplay also made really awesome changes
like sandbox style missions and gang territories and, for the first time in the
series, a skill tree; hats-off to Ubisoft for making this amazing game.
Even the side
missions are just amazing with the loyalty systems. Also; Jacob and Evie Frye
are the best characters to be portrayed in the series after Ezio.
The introduction
of the grappling hook gave me mixed feeling as I liked it for quick transversal
and also disliked it as that technology was definitely not available in
Victorian England. This game is simply a masterpiece; like Assassin’s Creed 2.
The Witcher 3
I don’t know
what to say, this game is absolutely amazing. It has the most diverse and best
looking open world I have ever seen. I have, right now, clocked 127 hours and I
am still nowhere near the end. Another thing of this game is that if you will always
have something to do. Be it either helping a farmer, continuing the main
mission or to go off riding in the absolutely beautiful open world there is
never an end to it.
The personality
of character, the monsters in the game, the crafting systems and the even the
cut scenes are awesome making it my number one choice for
RPG games.

Now that you
have basically read what he has written, I just want to give my two cents on
why I, basically, let somebody else post something on my blog. The answer for
that is quite simple. There are two reasons why was okay with this; number one:
this will basically introduce me to a different style of writing and also a
different point of view. Both of us play a lot of video games but that doesn’t necessarily
mean that we will both agree on the same thing.
For example, I did
not enjoy Assassin’s Creed Syndicate at all, and contrary to his opinion, I
think the best part of the game is the grappling hook. I felt it had a weak
story, repetitive game-play and that it was an overall mediocre game. I also don’t
agree with him when he says that Dark Souls 2 was not great. That thing is one
of my favourite games of all time. And don't ever diss the cardboard box. Ever.
But here is the thing, discussing this lets
me know that, yes, different people have different opinions but it is the
ability to discuss them all that makes it all awesome.
Like I mentioned
earlier, doing this also helps me develop a unique style. It helps me to adapt
to a certain style when it is demanded and that is something which is really
important when you are a writer.
The second
reason: I am incredibly humbled by the fact that he approached me and asked me
to edit what he has written and asked me to post it in my blog. This just shows
that he has faith in my ability as a writer. Or he just wants to use my fan-base
to become famous; If that’s the case he will be disappointed to know that this
sort of thing generally doesn’t work, at least when it comes to blogs.
All jokes aside
though, this guy is really awesome, but, Asim, don’t expect me to say that in
front of anyone else. I am humbled that he wanted me to edit his work, and in
doing so he has given me a chance to write this post.
And on that
note, I will end this post with a good day. I am still working on some new
stuff, which I hope to bring to you guys soon. But until then;
Peace!!!

Good one da... Asim Nath, ,,way to go man... keep writing and keep reviewing. .. next, I expect one on movies guys. ..get on with it..good luck
