Random Talk: Disney and Animation…

Having just watched Frozen I was in full Disney mode and thought that I would do this …… article, I guess, on Disney animated movies made by Walt Disney Animation Studios. This post will not have any organization like all my other posts. This is just my random thoughts as they come. This will also serve as a short review for Frozen. So let us begin.

I was, and still am a huge fan of animated movies. I am practically an adult and I guess that it is childish, but there really is a child in all of us. Now, in my opinion, Walt Disney Studios started the animation revolution so I expect a lot from any new Disney animated movie, especially if it is made by Walt Disney studios. I love all the Disney classics. Beauty and the Beast is one of the best films ever, and then there is The Lion King. If you don’t know what it is and if you don’t show your kids that movie…………which planet are you from. Snow white was great, Little Mermaid was good, 101 Dalmatians was awesome, Aladdin was spectacular….. The time when these movies came out was the golden age of Walt Disney Animation. And as the ages passed Walt Disney movies have not been up to the mark. The last good Disney musical I saw before I saw Frozen was Pocahontas… I did loved Tangled but, let’s be honest, it wasn’t a musical.

The main reason I think Disney Animations were so successful was because they were for all ages. Even adults could watch them. They had values, they made us feel, they were funny, emotionally powerful. But this magic became lost somewhere. Then all those other animation studios came and took over the throne. Disney bought Pixar but and made awesome movies, but they weren’t “Disney Movies”. With Tangled, Wreck it Ralph and Frozen Walt Disney studios made a comeback and I hope that they are here to stay. The best Disney musical, in my opinion is The Lion King. You could feel it in your skin. It had that awesome opening song, the great friendship song, the villain song and love song. It had the most compelling and relatable story. And it had lions. What more could you ask for? It is one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time.

With Tangled and Wreck it Ralph, Disney bought back the magic of storytelling, but it wasn’t a Disney musical. So my hopes for Frozen were high. And I am happy to announce that it made me believe in Disney animation again. When I heard the opening title, I immediately knew that I was in for a ride, and did I love it. It had all the things that made Disney Musicals awesome. It also moved away from the clichéd ‘damsel in distress’ theme. It had a really good set of songs and the visuals were awesome. There was even a really good Easter egg which any Disney fan would have loved. So definitely go check out Frozen. You’re in for a treat.

Many Animation studios have made great films, and I love them too. DreamWorks is, for the lack of a better word, incredible. Pixar is great, and there are a lot of small studios which are going on to get fame and recognition. Some of my favorite animation movies have been made by DreamWorks. How to train your Dragon, Kung Fu panda, Toy story…. They are not made by Disney. As much as I love Disney, props to these guys for making these great films.

Disney movies were, in my opinion, the best animated films. Although they are not as they used to be, I would love to see them strive to make those classic Disney movies. Who knows, they may even make a 2D cartoon movie. Well, I will be waiting for the day when animated movies start getting back the magic they used to have. Of maybe you could give us a Tangled and Frozen cross-over… that would be cool though. In the mean time, this is Emjayreviews90 signing off  J
