Ear-buds of Music - 21/6/2016
As I am typing this, I have about
an hour before it becomes officially Wednesday. So without further ado, here
are the seven songs of the week.
Stand By You –
Rachel Platten
Genre: Pop
This song has been on repeat for
the past five days on my phone. It is fun, energetic and meaningful. I mean,
what more can you ask form a song. Oh, and it has some pretty nice vocals to
boot. I’m pretty sure that most of you will enjoy this song. Give it a try, if
you haven’t listened to it yet.
Code Name Vivaldi
– The Piano Guys
Genre:
Instrumental
I swear to all that is holy in
this universe, these people have magic I their fingers. Quite possibly one of
my favorite medleys, The Piano Guys once again manage to combine a classical
master piece with a modern sound track. This sounds especially awesome when you
are writing something or working really had. I am listening to this right now.
King – Years
and Years
Genre: EDM,
Alternative
This is another one of the few
EDM tracks that I actually like. The music is upbeat, but the lyrics, are oddly
meaningful. I still have trouble figuring out if it is a metaphor for drug use
or abuse, but I’m not sure. Or maybe the writer didn’t really think of that, and
as usual, I am just over thinking it. It is a fun song to listen to though.
Halo – Beyonce
Genre: R&B
The Queen B has arrived. This is,
as the genre suggests, a very soulful song. And Beyonce does kill it on the
vocals, as if there was any question there. Fun fact, I came across this song
when I was listening to the sound track of the movie Epic. But, trust me when I
say this, this is not the strangest way I have found out a song I have liked.
Mt. Washington
– Local Natives
Genre: Indie
rock
This is another one of those
songs which no one I know has ever heard of. I came across this song when I was
listening to random online radio stations. It really is one of a kind, with
awfully meaningful lyrics, at least metaphorically. And I really ended up liking
the flow of the song for some reason.
Mountains –
Message to Bears
Genre:
Acoustic
This song is very close to my
heart for a multitude of reasons, one of them being the music video. It is
mostly instrumental, but it does have some haunting lyrics thrown in for good
measure. I am not sure how many of you will like it, but I implore you that you
give it a listen. I consider it so special because this song can mean different
things for different people. That’s why it is so powerful.
An Ode to Infinity
– Kashyap Vadapalli
Genre:
Classical
This piece is a composition of
one of my close friends. Now you may say that, oh look at him, he is promoting
his friend. But trust me when I say this, if someone creates crap and
propagates it in the name of art, I will say that it is crap irrespective of
who the creator is. I really like to listen to this piece, and I simply wanted
to include it here, because for the past four days I have been listening to it
before going to bed. While it may not be musically complex, it is something
that I enjoy.
So there you go; seven tracks of
the week. I say this in every single one of my posts and I am pretty sure
everybody ignores it, but I am going to say it anyway. Please share some of
your favorite songs in the comments section. I would love to hear them. Until
next time;
Peace!!!
