Random Talk : Moving Forward (Update 3)
Usually there are certain things
which I address in my updates which bear no actual relevance to anything I might
post next. It will probably consist of me saying what my next few posts will
be, or it will probably be a small apology for the hiatus I was on before I posted
said update. But this is not one of those updates. There are a few things I want
to address with this update, so bear with me here.
The first thing I want to address
is the complete lack of articles for the past two days. I really did break my
one-day-one-post-schedule hard. There are a few reasons why I did that, one of
them being my lack of energy. For some odd reason, ever since I passed my
boards, my schedule of sleep just enough so you can get through the day which I
followed all through my twelfth does not seem to be working. It is working, but
it is very spotty. By that I mean it will work for five days of the week, but
then it won’t for the remaining two.
The second reason is that, when I
am reviewing something, it takes me around half an hour to write about a seven
hundred word long review. That is my average word count, at least on my
reviews. For the past week, I have been working on a short story. With writing
a short story, it takes my more than an hour and a half to get to the seven
hundred word mark. This is because when I review something, I recollect
something and try to describe the good and bad parts of it, without giving away
too much of the story. When I am writing a short story, my work practically
begins with nothing. The only parameters I have for a story is the ones I set
for myself. So it takes more time to get into the flow.
So, I do apologize for the lack
of articles, in case someone minded that is. The second thing I want to address
is that some of my friends weren’t keen on my drama reviews. Funny, I know.
Well here is the deal the Dramatic arts are something which I like very much. And
unfortunately, there isn’t that much coverage especially for people who cannot
advertise their plays that is; for those who cannot “Spread their Name”
basically. So, to the dismay of those who don’t enjoy my drama reviews, or at
least to their annoyance, I shall be continuing to cover stage plays and drama
related events as they happen.
That being said though, here is a small piece of
information about the drama industry, new stage plays don’t happen every year.
At most there will be only thirty to thirty five plays, so you can rest assured
that that will be the maximum number of stage play reviews that will be published
each year. And since there are only so many plays, I am working or different
drama related content, for my website, so keep an eye out for that.
Thirdly, I am looking at creating
another series, like my “Ear-buds of Music” where I can publish a post once a
week. Contrary to popular belief, this is not something that I chose to do
because, I want my life to be more hectic, rather it is something which will
help me cover more varied topics, maybe even dipping into basic politics, for
those interested in that field.
Not only will this make sure that
there is some structure to the randomness of my posts, but it will make sure
that I can reach, something of a larger audience, thereby making sure that I can
get more inputs on making my work better. This will also matter, because I will
get to learn different writing styles when I get to cover topics which are not
my forte.
As for the fourth thing I want to
discuss is, for those of you who still don’t know about, the death of Christina
Grimme. Christina was a singer songwriter who started out in YouTube, where she
sang covers of popular songs. She shot to fame when she participated in The
Voice, a singing competition. I am going to be honest here for a second, I did
not know about her, until after her passing. I feel sorry that I didn’t get a
chance to experience her music before she lost her life.
Some people who may have known
her before she passed away may not call me a true fan, but when I listened to
playlist after playlist, I realized that the world had lost a great singer and,
more importantly, an amazing person. You know, after saying “My heart goes out
to their family” again and again, the words become hollow and meaningless. But,
I guess, when the people who have the power to stop this don’t, we can only say
these words. My only hope is that this and the Orlando shooting, make the politicians
see that gun laws need to be changed.
And on that sad, but hopeful note,
I would like to end this post. Until next time:
Peace.
