The Dramatic Arts : 116th Valedictorian function

Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha celebrated its 116th year valedictory function on 14th of June 14, 2016 which was presided over by his Excellency, the Governor of Tamil Nadu Dr. K Rosaiah and the president of Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha, Shri Nalli Kuppusamy Chetty.

The celebration began with a welcome address by Krishnamoorthy, the Secretary of Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha which was followed by a speech from Shri Nalli Kuppusamy Chetty wherein he praised the Governor on his appreciation for arts and culture.

Shri KS Nagaragan, a veteran of the stage who recently celebrated his hundredth birthday and his son Shri  KSN Sundar were honored for their contributions to the dramatic arts and KSN Sundar was bestowed the honor of Nataka Kalasarathy by the members of Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha.

Mohan Parasaran, former solicitor general of India spoke about the impact of the plays done by KS Natarajan has had on the society as a whole and also spoke about the need for good natured, sentimental entertainment, not only on the stage but also on our television screens.

Shri Tirupur Krishnan, author of Amudhasurabhi, addressed the gathering extolling the achievements, detailing a lot of his famous plays, of KS Natarajan and KSN Sundar and during his speech he echoed Mohan Parasaran’s words about the requirement of quality entertainment for the youngsters of today.

This was followed by a speech from his Excellency Dr. K Rosaiah. He spoke about the contributions of the father - son duo to the world of Tamil drama and also about the importance of art and culture, and the impact it has had on the history of India.

KSN Sundar thanked the chief guests and Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha on behalf of his father and also thanked them for the honor bestowed upon him. He quoted his father and ended his speech with a powerful statement, saying that just like a pen is to a writer, a creator it to God. It is just his will which flows through him creating wonderful stories on stage.

The event ended with a vote of thanks from a member of Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha which was followed by the National Anthem. Spread the Name would like to thank Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha and KSN Sundar for the invite to this auspicious occasion. Until next time:
