Ear-buds of Music - 28/6/2016

I know this post should have been up yesterday but due to some events, which I will go into in detail in another post, this list got delayed. Seeing as how this is already a day late, I don’t plan on delaying it Any further, so here are the seven songs for this week.

Jar of Hearts – Christina Perri
Genre: Ballad
While this song is really popular right now, I found out about it a long time ago when I watched Billy Bell perform an amazing contemporary dance routine is “So You Think You can Dance?” Both the song and the dance left me captivated but I ended up forgetting about it. I rediscovered when I was listening through Christina’s album, and I immediately went to Youtube to find the dance. So for your enjoyment, here is the link to the dance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8awlGJUfmWA

Just Breathe – Anna Nalick
Genre: Alternative
This is a beautiful song about growing up, rebellion and the inevitability of life. I don’t know why, but the lyrics were very relatable, at least to me. It does have a catchy vibe to it, but there is something about the song that separates it from the mainstream music that we get to hear so often. And it also helps that the vocals seem to have a very homely feel to them.

Never let me Go – Florence and the Machine
Genre: Indie Pop/Rock
Never let me go is another one of those songs which I cannot explain why I like so much. I can only reiterate the fact that I like it a lot. The song has an unusual but familiar structure with a really well done chorus. And, seriously people, give Florence Welch a Grammy already. She just has some of the best vocals I have heard.

Remember the Name – Fort Minor
Genre: Rap
Those of you who have heard this song before you will know how awesome it is. It is also one of the few raps, which straddles the line between being just fast enough that you can understand it the first time you hear it. And understanding it is all about why this rap is special. And I am pretty sure you have heard the chorus, even if you haven’t heard the song. It’s that famous

The Portrait – James Horner
Genre: Classical
It is a solo piano piece from the sound track of the movie Titanic, and it is another piece which I have a really special and emotional connection to. Titanic is one of the few movies which make me emotional every time I watch it and this piece is one of the reasons. It is one of those pieces which you cannot help but replay it again and again in your head.

Big Jet Plane – Angus and Julia Stone
Genre: Indie Folk Rock
I recently started listening to many songs by this brother and sister duo, and this is one of the songs that I fell in love with almost immediately. As far as I know this song is not a metaphor for something much deeper. It is just about, without giving too much away, a jet plane. Okay, I am joking. But you will have to listen to the song to find out what it is about. It really is something special.

Xenocide – Brand X Music
Genre: Orchestral
As far as orchestral music goes, this is not the most complex pieces that I have heard, but it is one of the more epic ones. The way, it starts with a small build up, fades into a melody and picks back up again is something which made it feel really epic. And it does have an awesome ending. Check it out and feel like you have an army following you into battle as you do your home work.

There you go. Those were the seven pieces of music that I wanted to share with you guys this week. Hope you like them as much as I like them. If not, you could send me some good ones. Until next time,

Peace!!!
